“Reasons dogs do not come when called“
1)You correct them, yell or discipline them when they do come:
The dog associates his name, or the word COME with negative things; and so he therefore begins to think that he would rather NOT come. If you need to do something to him that he isn’t going to like, don’t call him; go and get him!
- He gets in trouble when he returns home:
He can hear the tone of your voice change and he realizes that coming to you isn’t going to be something GOOD; so he prefers running through the neighborhood, rewarding himself! Then when he comes home, you’re not happy.
- Most of the time, you either don’t mean it when you use the come/recall command:
After a period of time, you desensitize your dog to a command, and it begins to mean nothing at all. If you say “Come” and your dog doesn’t come over and over again, eventually the command means nothing at all, like other commands we overuse and don’t follow through on.
The Benefits of Group Dog Training: Strengthening Bonds and Building Skills
Group dog training is an effective and enjoyable way to enhance the relationship between you and your furry companion. At For Paws Training, we offer a comprehensive group training program designed to provide rapid success for both owners and their pups. In this blog post, we will explore the benefits of group training and how it can contribute to the overall well-being and development of your dog.
Socialization Opportunities:
Group training sessions provide invaluable socialization opportunities for your dog. Interacting with other dogs in a controlled environment helps them learn proper canine communication and behavior. Through positive interactions and playtime, your dog will develop essential social skills, reducing the likelihood of behavioral issues related to fear or aggression.
Distraction Training:
In a group setting, your dog will learn to focus and respond to commands amidst distractions. Training in the presence of other dogs and people helps your furry friend become more resilient and better able to follow instructions in various environments. This is particularly beneficial for dogs that struggle with obedience outside of their home.
Enhanced Training Experience:
Our group training classes incorporate a Levels Method, allowing you and your pup to progress through different skill levels. This method ensures that each dog receives personalized attention and instruction based on their individual needs. The mix of experience levels in the classes allows for a dynamic learning environment, where new clients can learn from more experienced participants.
Bonding Opportunities:
Participating in group training strengthens the bond between you and your dog. As you work together to master commands and overcome challenges, you’ll develop a deeper understanding and trust. The shared experience of training alongside other dog owners fosters a sense of community and support, making the process more enjoyable for both you and your pup.
Expert Guidance:
During group training sessions, our professional trainers will guide you through exercises, demonstrate techniques, and provide feedback. They have the expertise to address specific training challenges and offer tailored advice to help you achieve your training goals. Additionally, trainers may provide handouts and informational resources to support your training journey.
